Surat, an emerging city in the state of Gujarat, is known for synthetic textile products. The textile industry is one of the oldest and the most widespread industries in Surat. A major part of the city’s population is associated with the textile industry, mainly engaged in the activities of yarn production, weaving, processing, printing as well as embroidery.
Nearly 30 million metres of raw fabric and 25 million metres of processed fabric are produced in Surat daily. Around 90% of polyester used in India comes from Surat. The Middle East is the major export market for Surat’s textile products. The Surat textile industry has grown considerably over time. As per recent figures, textile production in Surat has grown by 10% in the last 5 years, while the market for embroidery has grown to around Rs. 30000 million over the same period.
One of the main reasons behind the growth of Surat’s textile industry is the city’s ability to adapt to changes and the latest trends. The city is quick to respond to any changes in the preferences of people. The industrialists here have strong entrepreneurial skills. It is also known to update the technology used in the industry as well as the infrastructure. The current supply and demand factors provide very conducive and favorable business and market environment for the technological investment. In such scenario, there is a big need for the industry to upgrade itself with the latest technological developments taking place worldwide. That is why for providing these technologies under one roof, Garfab-TX Surat was organized in Surat.
The 18th edition of Garfab-TX Surat, an international trade show on textile, apparel, printing and embroidery technology was held at SIECC, Surat from September 08 – 10, 2023. In this edition, more than 50 exhibitors from all over the country participated. The three-day show, organized by Vardaan Events Pvt. Ltd. hosted around 12,000 visitors from Surat and other nearby regions. The show was inaugurated by Kailas Hakim, President FOSTA (Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association) and Chetan Maniya, President, Rapier Jacquard Association of Surat in the presence of leading players from the Surat textile industry. Garfab – TX Surat provides a unique platform for international and national suppliers and trade visitors to expand their business opportunities in the textile industry in India through networking and engaging in investment opportunities during the show.
The show has helped the industry to upgrade its factories from second-hand machines to new machines. Some of the exhibitors were Signature, Sinsim Liberty, Voltas, Falcon Embroidery Machine, JISL, Jaysinth Dyestuff, Aura Embroidery, Orange O Tec, Mehala Machines, Arrow Digtal, Stitchmax, Fucen Sewing Machine, Bapu Traders, Gurukripa, Balaji Sewing Machine, Pari Machinery – Jaki Sewing Machine), DCC, Daisen, Smart Color, VK Enterprises, RI Texsolutions, Krishna Enterprises- Biaoda Circular Knitting Machine, Studio Next, Superlab India, Shivani Enterprises, Natwest Inc. They all highlighted products like CAD/CAM, Sewing, Embroidery, Stone Fixing, Digital Printing, Rapier Jacquard, Flat Knitting, Circular Knitting, Fabric Inspection, Testing Equipment, Dyeing and Finishing Machines.
While speaking after the show BP Mishra, CEO, Vardaan Events Pvt. Ltd said, “Improved market scenario for last few months and latest technologies on display played an important role in attracting good visitors’ footfall at the show. For last 3-4 years, there is lot of investment happening in garment manufacturing. The market for garment and digital printing is in uptrend now, which was also reflected in the show display. So, it’s going to be a good year for the industry here.
Prior to the show, some of the exhibitors were apprehensive about customers’ footfall, but when they came here it was far better than their expectations. All the exhibitors reported good number of enquiries and many on the spot orders were also placed. So, again Garfab-TX proved itself as the best platform in this region.”
